I promise you that this blog is not going to turn into a
weight loss blog, but God has been teaching me lots of things through embarking
on this new eating plan. He is always
showing me spiritual truth through natural things – just like Jesus did with
His parables which involved the things of everyday life.
I've been so excited about the success of this diet that I've shared the information with several people at work. When something amazing happens in your life, you tend to want to discuss it.
So, this morning I was talking to two teachers at my
school. One had been in a meeting with
me the evening before and had heard someone asking me about my plan, so in this
new conversation she mentioned it. I had a long discussion with them about how
much weight I had lost, how easy the plan was to follow, and how it was
designed to keep people from feeling deprived. It was a lively and interesting
discussion, but as it was ending, I said something to them that had just occurred to
me.
“I’m a better evangelist for this diet than I am for my
faith!”
I don’t often mention matters of faith at work because I
tend to assume that all these nice people who are my colleagues are people who
already know God, but I talked to these two ladies about the diet even though I
personally don’t think either of them needs to lose weight. I learned today that I can share the amazing
things that God is doing in my life whether the person I share with knows God
or not. If I’m sharing with a believer,
it can be an encouragement for them and if I’m sharing with an unbeliever, my
words could plant a seed that could introduce them to the fascinating God that
is the center of my life.
